The Alabama basketball continued its recent surge Saturday, beating the Missouri Tigers in Coleman Coliseum by a score of 88-74. The win is the 8th for the Tide in its last 11 games, moving the overall record to 10-7 and evening its SEC mark to 2-2.

Missouri went an amazing 31-for-31 for from the free-throw line, but Alabama played solidly throughout and pulled away late for the 14 point win.

Alabama avoided a letdown after a big win over Auburn Wednesday night.

“I thought it was a huge win for our guys,” Oats said. “We talked to them about answering the bell after a big win (against) Auburn. Kind of human nature to have a letdown possibly. But we needed to avoid that. I thought we came out of the gate maybe a tad sluggish, but we picked it up there in the first half and then got ourselves a lead.”

The Crimson Tide was led by John Petty with 20 points. Petty went 6 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 10 from three point range.

Alabama continued its tactical and aggressive offensive play, scoring almost all of its points in the paint, or behind the arc.

Next up is a trip to Nashville to play the Vanderbilt Commodores (8-9, 0-4). The game will tip at 8:00PM Central and be televised by the SEC Network.
