The University of Alabama has scheduled a home-and-home series with old rival Georgia Tech. The teams will square off in Atlanta on August 31, 2030 and in Tuscaloosa on August 30, 2031.
There was a time when Alabama played Georgia Tech in football on a regular basis. The teams were SEC opponents from 1933 until the Yellow Jackets left the conference in 1964.
Even after that, the schools continued to play semi-regularly. The last of those games was played 35 years ago, however, in 1984. Georgia Tech beat Alabama that day by of score of 16-6.
Alabama holds a 28-21-3 record in the series.
“We are pleased to secure another home-and-home for our future football schedules with the addition of Georgia Tech for the 2030 and 2031 seasons,” Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne said. “The Crimson Tide and Yellow Jackets were regulars on each other’s calendars from 1902 to 1984, and we look forward to renewing the series between our two programs.”
“We are excited to announce the addition of another outstanding home-and-home series,” said Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “Our administration has made it a point over the past several years to continue to improve our schedule and this is another great example. Georgia Tech and Alabama have a long history of great football games and we are looking forward to continuing that tradition.
That makes eight upcoming home-and-home series against Power Five teams for the Crimson Tide. Those games are listed below along with the two neutral site games previously scheduled for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
