The Alabama basketball team never trailed in Coleman Coliseum Wednesday night, completely dominating the Auburn Tigers by a score of 83-64. The Crimson Tide’s biggest rival came into the game with a perfect record of 15-0. The surging Tide sent the Tigers home with not just a loss, but a resounding one.

Kira Lewis, Jr. led Alabama with 25 points. Herbert Jones and Alex Reese contributed 14 and 13 respectively. Jones continued has masterful defensively play, challenging the Tigers relentlessly. He finished with 14 rebounds.

The Crimson Tide defense flooded the lane, playing physically, and refusing to give up easy baskets to the Tigers. The physical play resulted in Alabama going to the line a total of 37 times. They made Auburn pay by converting on 29 of those free throws.

Auburn’s Anfernee McLemore provided Alabama with some bulletin board material before the season, claiming that Coleman Coliseum was one of his favorite places to play. “I like seeing all the fans disappointed when we win” McLemore said.

The comments did not go unnoticed.

“Of course we used it as motivation,” Jones said, “an opposing player saying our gym was his favorite place to play.”

“We made sure that quote was on the screen, the last thing they saw before they went out,” added Oats.

Alabama improved to 9-7 on the season, winning 7 of its last 10.

The Crimson Tide will host Missouri on Saturday at 2:30pm Central Time.
